imax upgrade- Regal Edwards Houston Marq*E

Large auditorium renovation, working alongside IMAX team and with considerable access limitations. Installed new 55ft screen, speaker system, projector and data backend.

FULL REMODEL- LANDMARK
HILLCREST CINEMAS

New construction by SBI Group in 1991, then fully remodeled in 2015 including stadium seating conversion, lobby upgrades, and the addition of a bar to the concession area.

SCREENX + IMAX UPGRADE-
REGAL FRESNO STADIUM 22

Combination ScreenX/IMAX upgrade to existing Regal RPX auditoriums. Work included installation of new IMAX screen and sound system, as well as auxilary screens for ScreenX system with calibration and fine-tuning.

FULL REMODEL- LANDMARK
EMBARCAdero

Full remodel and renovation to existing Landmark Theatres location inside high profile and iconic Embarcadero Center in downtown San Francisco. Work included concession and lobby upgrdes and addition of multiple auditoriums. Project finished ahead of schedule.

UPGRADES- CGV CINEMAS BUENA PARK

Renovation of lobby and concession areas to augment theater’s range of food and drink offerings. Included installation of advanced ducting and exhaust systems.

ada compliance-
abc’s dancing with the stars

An ongoing project in which SBI Group provides guidance and necessary physical adjustments and conversions to meet ADA compliance on the set of ABC’s hit show Dancing With The Stars.

IMAX UPGRADE-
AMC METREON

In collaboration with another firm, SBI took part in a substantial IMAX conversion to the auditorium in AMC’s flagship downtown San Francisco location.

LEGACY projects

SEISMIC RETROFIT - CALIFORNIA THEATER
BERKELEY

Preservation Award presented to SBI Group by the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association. Substantial seismic retrofit, including a metal cage surrounding the exterior walls, to the historic California Theater in Berkeley, CA.

CBS STUDIO CENTER- scoring stage & studios t & v

Once called “The Quietest Studio in the World”, SBI conducted a full rebuild of live recording studios T and V as well as the Scoring Stage with advanced features such as double shelled and suspended construction to isolate and negate sound and vibration within the complex. These facilities became the place where blockbuster hits such as Disney’s Aladdin were scored, which won Oscars for Best Original Score, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Sound Editing.

SBI Group converted the former Laemmle Sunset 5 Cinemas in Hollywood, CA to the all-new Sundance Sunset 5. Work included a new lobby bar and lounge with Park City-inspired decor and artwork, new stadium seating, and an outdoor patio area.

A complicated project involving a studio rebuild and upgrade inside a pre-existing older facility. Both Out of Africa and The Last of the Mohecians were mixed here, and went on to win multiple Oscars including Best Sound Mixing and Best Original Score.
